Hello!

My name is Lisa Egede.

I'm a 5th year PhD student in the Human Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) at Carnegie Mellon University where I'm advised by Geoff Kaufman.

I investigate how AI systems, often developed without the perspectives of marginalized groups in mind, can reinforce systemic inequities and harm racially minoritized communities. By employing a mixed-methods approach, my work aims to uncover the real-world implications of harmful AI systems and explore how insights from affected communities can inform the development of more inclusive and equitable technologies.

I am a current GEM University fellow and the 2023-2024 Presidential Fellow for Carnegie Mellon's HCI Institute. My research has been published at various conference venues including CHI, DIS and CSCW!

In my free time I enjoy riding my bike, making spotify playlists and taking pictures on my film camera.
